Some Odd Years

rootsap SOME ODD YEARS is a very sophisticated and ambitious song. Reminds me a lot of Brian Wilson in his creative day. The song dropped the pretence of what a song "should" be and created a song that breaks open so many doors. Listen to the whole track as the opening minute sets a stage for something unexpected and truly a sound thats pure joy.

lyrics

Blazing 'round for some odd years
I'm breaking bread on my hands and my knees
Don't tell me about a burning
I'll never learn.

Raising young just as we please
I'm taking time to hide my needs
So I tell him about my burning
But he'll never learn.

And the day will come at last
Where our dreams have all but past
And that hammer keeps a'pounding at your chest
And at the end of the day all you want to do is
rest.

Test the water -- it's alright to come in
It's been a while since a breath of smile began
Telling you my story about the ripples I've caused and seen
For some odd years pouring fire like
gasoline.

And the day will come at last
Where our dreams have all but past
And that hammer keeps a'pounding at your chest
And at the end of the day all you want to do is
rest.
